Profile & Temperament

Deo Volente was born right here at Redfield during the peak of our 2020 summer foaling season. Out of our proven jumper mare [REC] Best Bet and sired by the phenomenal [F.E] White Nightshade, he was a massive, leggy colt from day one, showing every sign of the powerhouse he would eventually grow into.

Today, he is a big, powerful 17.2hh stallion that requires an experienced professional handler. He is a challenging horse with a dominant personality, and he does not hand out his trust easily. That said, his work ethic under saddle is strictly business. He is not spooky, he doesn't waste energy being silly, and he focuses entirely on the job you put in front of him. He is not an affectionate or cuddly horse in the cross-ties, but he is respectful if managed properly. He thrives on a strict, predictable training schedule. If you know how to handle a strong performance stallion, he will work his heart out for you.

Training

A serious upper-level show jumping prospect with massive scope. He has no formal competition experience yet, but he is well ahead of schedule in his training due to his bravery and natural power over fences.

Flatwork: Well-schooled on the flat with a balanced, highly adjustable canter. He stays remarkably light in the bridle for his size, sits on his hocks nicely when asked, and carries forward without pulling or getting heavy.

Jumping: Schooling cleanly over 1.35m courses at home with ease. He is incredibly brave to the base, handles tight, technical combinations without hesitation, and has more than enough raw scope to step up significantly as he matures.

Potential: Grand Prix jumper prospect. He has the raw power and mechanics to step right into the rated age-class divisions.

Rider Suitability: Due to his size, power, and challenging stallion disposition, he is absolutely not an amateur mount. Best suited for a professional rider who can accurately pilot his scope and manage a high-level stallion.
